November 4 & 5

Join internationally acclaimed AXIS Dance Company for an intense, fun and explorative movement adventure in dance theatre and disability where all people interested in movement are welcome to join us. Drawing on AXIS Dance Company’s 30 years in leading the field of Physically Integrated dance with AXIS Artistic Director Marc Brew and company dancers we will share with you a journey of discovery into the working practices and methods of the company. You will develop skills in physically integrated dance and theatre through the use of inclusive language, improvisation, theatrical skills, partnering work, translation, learning existing repertoire and developing choreographic ideas and tasks to share with fellow artists.

Co-presented by Nimble Arts and the New England Center for Circus Arts with support for the public showing from Southern Vermont Dance Festival with support from New England Foundation for the Arts.

TESTIMONIAL:  As a teacher, I seek continuing trainings that will offer me new perspectives and so I participated in a workshop with AXIS Dance Company in March. I was curious to expand my own methods and structures for supporting integrated experiences for my students and my own personal devising. As a ‘non-dancer’, I had my own integration to connect with. The workshop gave me new ideas for creativity and I suggest it for dancers, teachers, choreographers, and ‘community developers’ of all genres from circus to dance and theater and beyond!   Serenity Smith Forchion, Nimble Arts / NECCA
